VC Norwich Score Good Results in Woodbridge Crits

VC had a great day out at the Woodbridge crits last Saturday. Looks like the Winter training is paying off.
In the Go Race event, Owen Marsden made his race debut with a 5th place finish, after getting in a break.
In the 3rd/4th category race, Phil Hargreaves scored an excellent 2nd place. Here is his report:
Identical to Lotus in every respect, the Woodbridge crits attracted a large field for the 3/4 event, held on a very hot spring day.
I was grimly determined to get myself in a break for this race, so gave it the full beans after a couple of laps and managed to latch on to small bunch up the road. Five of us contested the first prime, and three of my break away companions promptly blew themselves up doing so. (What an odd thing to do, I thought). That left just the two us up front. We continued for the remainder of the race, taking equal share of the workload, a bit like a 2 up time trial. The gap between us and the bunch ebbed and flowed a bit, but by the end we had a comfortable margin.
My thoughts centred around the all important last lap. I knew I had to dispatch my young felllow escapee before the sprint and in my mind I had a Cancellara type burst of speed about 2 km out.
Sadly, this idea stayed in my mind and I realised I am nothing like like Cancellara! Predictably, I got out dragged in the final 100 metres.
Thanks to my fellow VCN riders, who gamely jumped on any potential 'bridgers' and helped maintain our lead.
Congrats to Jonathan Shuster of Stowmarket CC for a fine win. He worked hard, never shirked a turn and was the stronger rider.
